They promote environmental education to care for the environment in Torreón

Because environmental education begins at home, basic level students are instilled with a culture of care and respect for the environment through the educational activities of the “My Dear School” program.

Tomás López Velázquez, head of the Directorate of Programs and Environmental Education of the General Directorate of the Environment in Torreón, said that The main objective of these activities is to get students involved from an early age. in actions to care for the environment.

Among the primary schools visited so far this month are the Jaime Torres Bodet, Lázaro Cárdenas, Braulio Fernández Aguirre, March 14, Professor Antonia Solís Amaro, Álvaro Obregón and Anexa a Normal schools, among others.

He mentioned that environmental education begins at home, and that schools, through educational dynamics, seek to transmit the message to students, teachers and parents, in addition to promoting the care of local flora and fauna.

The dynamics are related to the separation of waste, through colored deposits; germination, with the set of seeds; as well as with crafts to make plants, in addition to responsible water consumption.

The Department of Water Culture of the Municipal Water and Sanitation System (SIMAS) Torreón and the Municipal Institute of Culture and Education (IMCE) also participate, the latter through the “Museum in your school” program.

The official noted that the purpose is to expand these activities to more schools, in order to reach a greater number of children.
