The National Meteorological Service (SMN) announced the forecast for weather in Mexico for this April 17, 2024which predicts more heat, rain and whirlwinds.
The anticyclonic circulation at medium levels of the atmosphere will maintain the heat wave with a hot to very hot environment over the entire national territory, with maximum temperatures that could exceed 45 °C.
On the other hand, cold front 46 will acquire stationary characteristics over the north of the country, it will interact with a trough at medium and high levels of the atmosphere that will move over the northwest of Mexico, with a low pressure channel extended over the northeast and eastern part of the Mexican territory, and with the entry of humidity generated by the subtropical jet stream, will lead to strong gusts of wind, showers and heavy rains accompanied by electric shocks and possible hail, as well as the probability of formation of whirlwinds in Coahuila, New León and Tamaulipas.
According to the statement from the agency dependent on the National Water Commission (Conagua), the entry of humidity from the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea together with a low pressure channel inside the national territory, will lead to rains and intervals of showers in areas of the west, center, south and southeast of the Mexican Republic, in addition to the Yucatan Peninsula.

For today, April 17, 2024, warm and hot weather is forecast in Michoacan, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche with temperatures above 45 °C. As well as maximum temperatures of 40 to 45 °C in Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo (north), Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Morelos and Yucatan.
Weather in CDMX and Edomex: up to 33 °C and rain are expected
In the Valley of Mexico, scattered cloudiness and cool to temperate atmosphere is expected today, April 17, 2024, at dawn. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies during the day with a probability of isolated rains in the Mexico City (CDMX) and rains and intervals of showers in the State of Mexico (Edomex). Wind direction variable from 10 to 25 km/h with gusts from 40 to 60 km/h.
The minimum temperature in CDMX will be 16 to 18 °C and the maximum 31 to 33 °C. For Toluca, Edomex, the minimum temperature will be 7 to 9 °C and the maximum 27 to 29 °C.
