On Tuesday afternoon, the American institution announced the list of those who would join it if they accepted, which would give them the right to vote starting with the next delivery of the statuette.

Seven women and four men make up the national candidates from different areas of the film industry.

There are the cinematographers Damián García (Andor) and Dariela Ludlow (Ruido), the costume designer Gabriela Fernández (Cantinflas), the producers Daniela Alatorre (A Police Movie) and Fernanda de la Peza (The Wild Region).

There are also the sound specialist Alejandro Quevedo (Radical) and the casting specialist Alejandro de la Reza.

Kate del Castillo, one of the best-known Mexican actresses, who has made a career in the United States in films such as Bad Boys for Life, was also invited, as was filmmaker Lila Avilés, who with Tótem was in the final stretch of the last installment precisely of the Oscar.

Daniela Michel, meanwhile, is recognized for her work in favor of national cinema, having founded the Morelia competition, which this year will celebrate its 22nd edition, to which directors such as Quentin Tarantino, Stephen Frears and Guillermo del Toro have attended.
