After being targeted by two criminals in the middle of the dunes of Praia de Cumbuco, in Ceará, a woman sitting in the front seat of the carriage who was approached by the criminals told tourists what had happened. Until then they thought it was an act part of the “emotional” tour.
«They had a gun, did you see? – said the woman. In the images taken by one of the tourists, we can see that the two criminals had weapons in their hands aimed at the passengers of the vehicle, however the driver, noticing the action, accelerated and managed to avoid the robbery.
Then the driver says he will call the police and takes out his cell phone. At that moment another woman’s voice is heard again saying: “Should we turn it down? Get out, André, get out » she asks the passenger in the back seat.
Second route diverted by the buggy to escape criminals
A more complete video obtained by TV Cidade shows that a few moments before the attempted robbery against tourists who were taking a buggy ride in the dunes of Cumbuco, a second vehicle following closely diverted its path to escape the criminals approaching.
According to André Araújo, one of the occupants of the vehicle, explains that the stroller behind, at the time of the robbery attempt, veered towards the bush, swaying and shaking. He says the family asked him to be careful with his father, who was traveling in the buggy behind, so they were already getting irritated with the stroller due to the bumps. “Then we heard the shot and we understood the gravity of the situation.”

“We were on two strollers, in the first there was my father’s wife, me and my girlfriend, and immediately behind there was one with my father, my sister and my sister-in-law. We saw them pointing guns at us and […] We asked for our tour to be exciting. Our naivety was so great that at first we thought it was a fiction, that it was part of the tour,” he says.

In a dialogue following the approach, the woman who was in the passenger seat told André that it was not a joke, but that the men were armed with real guns and that it was an attempted robbery.
According to the Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (SSPDS), no police report (BO) was registered on the incident. The suspects were identified and identified as figures already known for crimes committed in the region, but were not arrested by security forces.
