They expect the arrival of foreign tourists to Vallarta Pride 2024

To commemorate LGBT+ pride week, from May 17 to 26, the 11th edition of Vallarta Pride is scheduled, which plans to attract between 20 and 22 thousand visitors of different nationalities to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

According to organizers, around 60% of the attendees at this year’s Vallarta Pride are expected to be from the United States and Canada. The organizing committee confirmed that this year it will receive groups of visitors from England, Spain, Finland and the Czech Republic.

The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust and the LGBT+ Business and Tourism Civil Association of this beach destination, made up of 300 local businessmen and entrepreneurs, presented the official agenda for this next edition.

Luis Villaseñor, general director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, a public body that manages state revenues derived from the Lodging Tax, pointed out that “this destination is the first in the country to implement a public policy for the promotion and attention of LGBT+ tourism. , given that the segment represents around 2 million visitors annually and a revenue of more than 17 billion pesos.”

It was mentioned that the contribution that the sexual diversity group makes to the Puerto Vallarta economy reached a proportion of between 38% and 40% of its tourism GDP in 2023.

Javier Jiménez, president of the Civil Association of LGBT+ Businesses and Tourism of Puerto Vallarta, said that in the urban area, known as the Romantic Zone, the consumption of the LGBT+ community represents 70% of the sales made by hotels, bars, restaurants and businesses. such as art galleries, clothing stores and jewelry stores.

Villaseñor said that the destination has a wide tourist and entertainment offer specialized in the LGBT+ segment, trained personnel to prevent discrimination, quality public spaces and a safe environment, which is attractive for national and foreign travelers.

Carlos Plascencia, director of the Vallarta Pride Organizing Committee, pointed out that the official agenda of activities for the event includes, among others, a sports race, a pet parade, a 3-day cultural and leisure meeting, plays and fashion performances, as well as musical events.

A public party is planned on Olas Altas beach and the official pride march, which will take place on Saturday, May 25, with the participation of more than 55 floats. A recognition as LGBT+ Activist of the Year will also be given to trans activist Kenya Cuevas.
