They evoke a love story through dance

The Russian State Ballet Mari El company presented this Friday, at the Nazas Theater in Torreón, the work Swan Lake, famous for having been composed by the maestro Piotr Tchaikovski.

Directed by Kosntantin Ivanov, former soloist of the Bolshoi ballet, the Russian company is currently touring Mexico. With Swan Lake, it has recently been presented in Mexicali, Culiacán, Saltillo, Tijuana, among other cities.

40 dancers participate in this project, who act in this love story starring Prince Siegfried and Odette, a young queen who, along with her court, has been turned into a swan by the sorcerer Rothbar. Odette can only regain her human form during the night.

It is the first ballet written by Tchaikovsky, which is divided into four acts.

The first performance of Swan Lake in Torreón began at 6:00 p.m., when the red curtain of the Nazas Theater was raised. The dancers took the stage and in the absence of an orchestra, Tchaikovsky’s music was played on the floor.

The La Laguna audience was able to enjoy the ballet scenes, such as the end of the second act, where after the nighttime meeting between Siegfried and Odette is interrupted by the sorcerer Rothbar. Also the dance of the pigeons (four dancers dancing with their hands clasped) or the solo of Odile, the black swan, in the third act.

A second performance was held at 8:00 p.m.

It should be noted that last February 20 marked the 147th anniversary of the premiere of Swan Lake at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. According to the chronicles, that first time it was a complete failure.
