The Association of Commanders of the Armed Forces. (Ascofa) called on Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzén to promptly authorize a budget allocation that would allow for an increase in salaries and pensions for the military and police.
By letter 015/24-ASCOFA, they indicated that on September 8, 2023, the Ministry of Defense presented a Bill that modifies Legislative Decree 1132 “Legislative Decree that approves the new income structure applicable to military and police personnel”, and his statement of reasons.
They indicated that eight months have passed and no concrete result is known.
“For this reason, we request that you consider as soon as possible the budget allocation to address what is indicated in the Bill issued by the Ministry of Defense, which we understand is perfectly acceptable, despite the economic, social and political difficulties that the country is going through. “, they indicated.
They stressed that since 2012 there has been no increase in the Remunerations and Pensions of military and police personnel.
According to the statistical information issued by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, it can be seen that, in the last decade, there has been an inflationary process that oscillates at 3% per year, but that in recent years it has increased. , accumulating from December 2012 to February 2023, up to 43.29%.
Due to the dynamism of the economy, there is an increase in the cost of living, which is a product of inflation that has mainly affected the food sector. In recent years, food inflation has been variable, as well as health, education, housing and transportation services that include fuel.
