They are requesting that 3% of the Payroll Tax (ISN) be allocated to support micro, small and medium-sized businesses. This includes certifications, financing facilities, guidance on distribution, administration, tax compliance, and the strengthening of production chains and business groups.
Donato Gutierrez Gutierrez, president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC)presented the proposal to Luis Olivares Martínez, director of Pro Coahuila, as well as the creation of a commission within the Security and Development Council (Consede).
He pointed out that CMIC’s main interest is to participate in what is coming to the Comarca Lagunera in the following months and years.
He mentioned that 90% of the construction work in the state is private, exceeding the national average of 80%. However, only 5% of local construction companies participate in these works. Therefore, there is interest in developing small and medium-sized companies, which represent 95% of the CMIC registry, to meet the demands of national and foreign companies.
It was proposed that the working committee within the Council be made up of various business organizations and that there be a budget for the development of SMEs, equivalent to 3% of the ISN, which would be 9 to 12 million pesos.
The proposal will be evaluated within the state government. The proposed commission will include a coordinator, a representative of the business sector who will be appointed from among the organizations, an Executive Member who will be the Secretary of Economic Development, advisors who will be representatives of the business organizations, and the directors of economic development of the Comarca Lagunera.
Gutiérrez Gutiérrez said that professionalization would be sought in matters of administration, sales, certifications, security, environmental care, and worker health.
