The Police continues to investigate the footage from cameras and mobile phones of the massive homophobic attack that two members of the LGBTI+ community received in Thessaloniki last Saturday night.
Now the goal is to identify those who ordered or started the attack and especially if there was incitement from social media.
What does the press representative of EL.AS say?
“In the first incident, and well done to the victims who reported the homophobic attack, the Police acted immediately,” says EL.AS press representative Constantia Dimoglidou to MEGA.
“These incidents must be reported, they are not funny, they are crimes. (…) The adults arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor, they were tried by the automatic procedure”.
According to Ms. Dimoglidou: “It should not characterize the entire city when a group of people attacked two people. (…) The Greek police are immediately activated and they are taken to the Greek Courts”.
Reported another attack
It is recalled that just two 24 hours after the wild episode in Aristotelous Square, one of the two victims reported a verbal attack on the beach pavement.
The young man was verbally attacked by a 32-year-old man. Fearing that the same thing would happen again, he took a taxi and headed to the police station where he reported the incident.
A few hours later the 32-year-old was arrested.
