British and Dutch scientists conducted research and concluded that 15 specific factors may indicate the risk of early development of dementia.
Publika.az reports that the results of their experiments were published in “JAMA Neurology” magazine.
For the study, experts analyzed the British Biobank database from 2006 to 2010. As a result, 356,052 people under the age of 65 who still had no symptoms of dementia at that time participated in the experiment. The scientists followed them until 2021 and recorded 485 cases of dementia during this period.
At the same time, experts have identified the factors that most influence the development of the disease. For example, this disease occurred mostly in people with a low level of education. Economic status and genetic predisposition also influenced the development of the disease.
The list also includes abstinence from alcohol, heavy drinking, social isolation, vitamin D deficiency, elevated C-reactive protein, decreased hand strength, hearing loss, hypotension, stroke, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and depression.
