Good morning, once again, in 2024! It will probably take me a while to get used to. However, time flies at such a pace that it is very likely that in one moment we will be thinking about holidays and the next moment we will have to adapt to the fact that we will arrive in 2025. However, there is no point in staying in a state of mind full of decadence! Especially because many good things await us!
However, to better enter into the spirit of the new year, we will do something that may seem a little paradoxical: we will go back in time. Let’s go back 20 years to remember how many great titles were published during that time. And it just so happens that in terms of great premieres, 2004 was phenomenal. Each of you can probably name at least a few.

In today’s text I would like to introduce you to ten of those who enjoy the best ratings on the Internet. Of course, there probably won’t be enough space for everyone worth mentioning – that’s why I especially encourage you to share your memories in the comments. After all, such a nostalgic trip should bring only good and pleasant feelings. Let’s not continue!
World of Warcraft
Let’s start the list with the legendary title that defined the MMORPG genre. Its premiere was a moment that changed the face of online gaming forever. I remember the hours I spent in Azeroth, where every land, every task, was a new discovery for me. Blizzard created more than a game: it created a virtual world where adventures and character creation have become part of the daily lives of millions of players.
Fable: forgotten tales
It’s also worth mentioning a game that proved that morality and choice have real consequences. As the hero of Albion, every decision, every step had an impact on the game world. I often think back to those moments when I explored vast locations and made difficult decisions that shaped the main character and his future. This was brilliantly resolved
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Fascinating graphics, fun plot and a unique combat system – need I say anything? Let’s face it, all of this makes this game still delightful today. I fondly remember the moments when, together with Mario and his friends, I tried to solve puzzles and fight opponents. It was like a journey into a world where every card had its own story. An incredibly creative approach.
The Sims 2
When I think of The Sims 2, I don’t just see the game, but a lot of possibilities. It was here that I first experienced what it means to create and manage the lives of virtual characters. Each Sim had its own story and I, as the quasi-divine being to the virtual characters, could shape them as I saw fit. I can’t count how many hours I’ve spent developing my creativity… AND getting ladders out of the pool!
Def Jam: Fight for New York
Def Jam: Fight for NY is a title that is much more than a typical fighting game. The combination of hip-hop culture with dynamic fighting made every fight not only a duel, but also a form of expression. When I fought to the beat, choosing my favorite artists and using unique moves, I completely isolated myself from the everyday world. Magic!
Prince of Persia: Soul of a Warrior
You can’t miss one of the three best chapters of the Prince of Persia adventures! A mysterious atmosphere, challenging platforming sequences and a gripping plot – all this created an unforgettable experience. I often think back to times when, as a principal, I faced adversity and uncovered the dark secrets of my past. However, this title is still defended.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – Lords of the Sith
And the next chapter, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, is an epic journey into the world of Star Wars. As a fan of the universe, I was fascinated by the opportunity to shape my own Jedi or Sith path. This game is not only entertainment for me, but also a childhood dream come true. And although I had the opportunity to enter the world of this game long after its premiere, I don’t regret it at all!
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
An extraordinary narrative, a deep plot and innovative gameplay solutions have made this game legendary. I’ll never forget how, as I snuck through the jungle, every move mattered, and Snake’s story drew me deeper and deeper into his world of secrets and betrayals. Hideo Kojima showed off his skills here and it was really hard to get bored, even for a guy who doesn’t particularly care about stealth games.
Half-life 2
Let’s face it: Half-Life 2 is the game that defined the FPS genre. A revolutionary graphics engine, a gripping plot and unforgettable moments – all this made it one of the most important games of my life. When I faced threats in City 17 as Gordon Freeman, uncovering secrets and changing the fate of the world, I felt like a true agent. Top notch diving!
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
I can’t end this list any other way… GTA: San Andreas isn’t just a game, it’s a real experience in the criminal world. A huge open world, full of possibilities and surprising twists. Every street in Los Santos, every mission, was a new adventure for me. This game gave me freedom and the feeling of being part of something bigger, something that stayed with me for a long time. And I don’t think there is anyone who hasn’t experienced it!
