Ultra-processed foods increase the risk of cancer.
Publika.az reports that “Daily Mail” published the results of the research conducted by European scientists.
Based on the result, it is reported that the products that have been subjected to numerous chemical and technological processes to increase their shelf life are not as dangerous to health as previously thought.
During the experiment, data on the eating habits of 267,000 Europeans and how they affected their health were analyzed.
The research lasted for 11 years. Men consumed about 400 grams and women about 330 grams of ultra-processed foods every day.
At the same time, scientists took into account more than 11 thousand different industrial products.
During the study, 4,461 participants developed cancer, cardiovascular disease, or diabetes. The risk of cancer is actually 9% higher among those who consume processed food. Especially harmful are fatty, meat products, sauces, spices and soda.
However, some products were able to be restored. Especially cereal products, bread, vegetables and meat substitutes, although they do not cause cancer, are quite high in calories. Therefore, it is better to limit the consumption of these products.
“Understandable and simple food is best. “Eat tasty, but healthy,” the scientists advised.
