These are the best summer festivals in Luxembourg

The indoor festival season is slowly coming to an end and the first open-air event starts in Luxembourg at the beginning of May. Anyone who wants to spend the festival summer exclusively in the Grand Duchy will not miss out this year either. The selection of music festivals is once again wide-ranging this year. Music lovers of all genres will get their money’s worth. Here is a chronological selection of the best music festivals in Luxembourg in summer 2024.

LOA – Luxembourg Open Air

The LOA has been delighting fans of electronic music with international DJs and local acts in Luxembourg since 2019. The special thing about it is that the organizers open the open-air festival season with their LOA-Esch in May and at the same time ring in the season’s closing with the LOA on the Kirchberg. The two-day event will take place on May 3rd and 4th at the Place de l’Académie in Belval. Headliners for this year’s edition include Malaa, Will Sparks and Blasterjaxx. The edition in Kirchberg will take place on September 13th and 14th at the Place de l’Europe. Pic-Nic Electronic

The music collective Lauter Unfug is organizing its Pic-Nic Electronic again this year in the central park in Kirchberg behind the Coque. On May 18th and 19th, the festival offers house music as well as workshops, food stalls, exhibitions, shops, games and much more. The music is provided by international and local artists. Koll in action

Also on the weekend of May 18th and 19th, festival enthusiasts can head to Obermartelange in the municipality of Rambrouch for the Koll an Aktioun Festival. For 10 years, the festival has offered a wide-ranging program for families, culture lovers, gourmets and music fans. It is visited by more than 3,000 people every year. Minimizing the impact on the environment is one of the foundations of the Koll an Aktion. All information about the program and tickets are available here.

Usina Festival

This year’s edition of Usina is entering its third round. As in the previous two years, the two-day festival will take place on the Nei Schmelz site in Dudelange. On June 1st and 2nd, international musicians will delight music fans together with Luxembourg artists. The highlights of the line-up include the German rapper Cro, as well as the pop singer and songwriter Joris. Support from Luxembourg includes Chaild, Ryvage and Culture the Kid, among others. Eurovision Song Contest participant Tali will also perform on the second day of the festival. In addition to music, Usina offers a variety of cultural activities, theater performances and creative installations. Les Francofolies Esch/Alzette

The first edition of Franco Folies in Esch/Alzette was originally scheduled to take place in 2020. Circumstances at the time meant that the festival could not celebrate its debut until 2022. The range of music genres knows no limit. No matter whether EDM, hip-hop or rock – there is something for everyone. Music enthusiasts can celebrate over four days from June 6th to 9th in the southern metropolis. Headliners include David Guetta, Shaka Ponk and Ninho. In addition to the international artists, Luxembourgish acts such as Maale Gars and Nosi also perform. Tickets can be purchased on the official site of the festival can be purchased.

WAAL – We Are All Lost

WAAL, or We Are All Lost, is a festival with several stages spread across the Rives de Clausen in Luxembourg City. A total of eight stages with very different music genres are part of the event’s program. Visitors can dance to techno, indie rock, hip-hop, Latin, Afro, house or reggaeton. Music Festival

The City of Luxembourg’s Fête de la Musique will take place from June 14th to 21st this year. Since 2000, the capital has offered amateur and professional musicians the opportunity to present themselves at various locations. Every year the event attracts a wide audience of all ages, offering a wide repertoire of live music at small free concerts in public spaces. The Fête de la Musique in Dudelange invites visitors to its 31st edition on June 15th. So far little is known about this year’s edition. From the 14th to the 21st, many other communities are holding a Fête de la Musique. In the center there are the communities of Bartringen, Kopstal, Lorentzweiler, Mamer and Niederanven. In the south there are still concerts taking place in Dudelange, Differdange, Reckingen/Mess and in Kayl. The communities of Ettelbrück, Bourscheid and Bastendorf make the north dance. And in the east, the town of Remich organizes its own Fête de la Musique.

Festival de Wiltz

Since its founding in 1953, the Wiltz Festival has been considered the oldest festival in Luxembourg. After a break last year, visitors can expect a variety of cultural experiences at this year’s Festival de Wiltz. The program from June 29th to July 19th includes a Luxembourg operetta, “An der Schwemm”, or a Nouveau Cirque group from West Africa. Siren’s Call Music & Culture Festival

The one-day festival will take place on June 29th as usual around and in Neumünster Abbey. Once again, Siren’s Call invites you to take a journey at the interface between music and other art disciplines. The musical program includes Bombay Bicycle Club, Bat for Lashes and Alvvays. In addition to the music festival, Siren’s Call also offers a food festival, a cultural festival and a family festival. Kinnekswiss Loves

From July 5th to 7th, Kinnekswiss Loves will transform the characteristic location of Kinnekswiss in the city park into a large open-air concert area. The Orchester Philharmonique du Luxembourg and international music stars perform on a large stage in the idyllic city park. The festival starts every day from 9 p.m. The organizers have not yet announced the program. All information is on the Luxembourg City website published. On July 6th, the Luxembourg Philharmonic and its maestro Gustavo Gimeno, together with the soprano Fatma Said and the opera singer, director and writer Rolando Villazón, offer an unforgettable evening.

Blues Express

The Blues Express takes place every year in Fond-de-Gras and Lasauvage in the municipality of Differdange. International and local bands perform on numerous stages in an exceptional historical and natural setting. The surrounding area provides a unique backdrop for the festival, which takes place on July 13th. Visitors can also ride the Train 1900 or the Minièresbunn for free on the day. Howeverlive

The Echterlive open-air festival takes place in Echternach in July. From July 26th to 28th, the courtyard of the historic abbey will be transformed into an open-air stage. Visitors can look forward to a varied musical program with many different international and national artists. So far, the German musicians Wincent Weiss and Lena have performed. On the last day of the festival there will be an evening with music from Luxembourg. Among others, the finalists of the Luxembourg Song Contest Tali, Krick and Joel Marques will be on stage together. e-Lake Festival

The original idea came about in 1983 in response to the lack of local events for youth. It has been taking place as a three-day music festival since 1996. There are live concerts on Fridays, DJs play electronic music on Saturdays and Sundays combine both. The festival, including the campsite, takes place like every year in mid-August at Lake Echternach. Visitors can dance to a variety of music genres from August 9th to 11th. Funky Donkey Festival

The Funky Donkey Festival takes place in the parking lot of the Hall Polyvalent in Clervaux. So far only the date is known. But there is a new addition: the Funky Donkey will be a two-day event. Visitors can look forward to August 30th and 31st. DJs will create a party atmosphere on Friday, live bands will perform on Saturday, and the day will be rounded off with a diverse family program, a food village and much more.
