These are Satena’s expansion plans

In a milestone that celebrates national integration and aerial advancement, Satena commemorates 62 years of uninterrupted service. Since its founding in 1962, it has been the vital link between the various regions of the country, transporting more than 26 million passengers and consolidating itself as an essential pillar for the economic and social development of Colombia.

Last year, the airline achieved a notable record by carrying 1.22 million passengers, marking a growth of 18% over the previous year. In addition, the airline took a historic leap by inaugurating its first international route, connecting Bogotá with Caracas and Valencia, Venezuela, thus expanding its horizons and contributing to strengthening regional ties.

One of Satena’s most notable transformations was experienced on the San Andrés – Providencia – San Andrés route, where flight capacity increased by an astonishing 153%, thanks to the introduction of larger and more comfortable aircraft. This change not only improved the travel experience but also boosted tourism and development on the islands.

Looking ahead, the prominent company has ambitious plans for the future. In the next three years, it is expected to acquire a fleet of eight 19-seat light aircraft, intended to operate in remote areas where larger aircraft face restrictions. In addition, the fleet of medium ATR-type aircraft will be strengthened to offer more robust national connectivity.

The president of Satena, Major General Óscar Zuluaga, stressed that these investments not only seek to increase connectivity, but also guarantee high standards of security and service. With the objective of doubling the number of passengers transported in the next 4 years and expanding its destination network by 150%.
