We expect the Armenian leadership to make the right choice for the Armenian people.
Publika.az Akhar.az reports that the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said these words while commenting on the words of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Russia can no longer be the main partner in the field of security.
“Our countries remain allies, the interests of the Armenian people are not separate from the neighborly relations with Russia. We expect that the Armenian leadership will take this into account and make the right choice against the background of the current geopolitical transformations,” he said.
According to him, there is a reliable bilateral legal framework between Russia and Armenia:
“This also applies to military-technical cooperation. Both sides have obligations to each other, including the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity and security. Yerevan is also under collective security in the event of possible aggression within the framework of the CSTO. The countries signed an agreement on the joint grouping of troops in 2016.
Returning to active cooperation within the framework of CSTO first of all meets the interests of Armenia. The organization has wide opportunities at the disposal of Yerevan, its potential is based on many years of experience.
He emphasized that the CSTO can play a stabilizing role in the South Caucasus, unlike the observers of the EU mission, who deal with issues far from the stated goals.
