He deputy Gonzalo Winter (CS) He referred to the complex moment that I saw mayor of Recoleta, Daniel Jadue (PC)who is soon to be formalized for the crimes of bribery, unfair administration, treasury fraud and fraud, within the framework of the investigation into the purchase and sale of supplies to confront Covid-19 due to Chilean Association of Municipalities with Popular Pharmacies (Achifarp).
In conversation with Al Pan Pan con Mirna Schindlerthe parliamentarian began by stating that “Mayor Jadue has the right to the presumption of innocence, which is one of the pillars of the Rule of Law.”
“Second, it is a complex case, therefore, it is not appropriate for a deputy to rule on legal conclusions in this regard. As a deputy I can say that it seems to me that there are facts that deserve to be investigated.
But I can’t go that far anymore,” he added.
Winter also ruled out rumors that the Frente Amplio is harming mayors who are not supporters. What’s more, he said that “it’s painful for me.”
“Indeed, Jadue is a person from a close party, an ally of the Frente Amplio. But here we have to let the institutions work. I would also state, for greater completeness, that the audit report of the Comptroller’s Office and the unanimous vote of the State Defense Council show that There are facts that it is positive that they be investigated, that must be clarified”he added.
“To reach that conclusion does not require a concertation of actors in the dark, because there is a lot of data that would lead anyone to reach that conclusion. That is why the CDE voted unanimously,” he added.
Jadue has said that the president of the CDE, Raúl Letelier, is close to the Frente Amplio and that is why he made that announcement on television. Winter does not believe that: “I understand that the president of the State Defense Council is not the president of the Frente Amplio. I don’t have that information. The only thing I know is that Jadue says he is.”
“What I can tell you is that I feel the greatest respect and admiration for the Communist Party of Chile. Therefore, because of its history, because of its present, because of its future, it is a natural ally of the Broad Front,” he concluded.
