Theon Design custom built a 911 Targa and it’s worth it!

Old-generation Porsche 911 builds are in vogue this year, check out the Singer company. The British company Theot Design is also engaged in constructions, and its work is characterized by absolute precision. First of all, she tied the body version of the Targa generation 964, which the customer wanted to grow in his own image. The result was a car named Theon Design GBR003.

Like every custom build from Theon Design, the GBR003 has an all-carbon body, an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 3-liter atmospheric boxer, which are the result of the development of the British company. The Targa, painted in pastel blue and with an interior accented in paint colors, is the perfect realization of the client’s fantasy about the Porsche 911. It combines high-end luxury elements with the most modern technologies and production processes.

The GBR003 project was realized with typical obsessive attention to detail and laser-like engineering precision, which resulted in the creation of a car that is excited to drive with the roof open without any dynamic compromises. For improved driving characteristics, Theon developed a system of custom-made reinforcing tubes made of carbon fibers that are glued to the chassis floor, which significantly increases torsional stiffness and at the same time reduces added weight to an absolute minimum.

The body is completely made of carbon, except for two, which remained steel due to the protection against bony impact. Every body panel has been digitized and modeled in 3D design software to ensure a flawless fit. Thanks to the carbon panels and the use of carbon links in the GBR003 only 1228 kg, which is only 60 kg more than the equivalent purchase from Theon.

The adjustable damping system for the Targa has been carefully calibrated over the course of hundreds of test kilometers, which guarantees its performance in a wide range of conditions. This technology takes the pleasure of driving with the roof open to a new level with exceptional handling. The GBR003 can seamlessly transition from the role of a long-legged touring car when traveling from point A to point B to the position of an extraordinary dog ​​car when it comes time to turn on a mountain pass.

The air-cooled heart of the 1-liter boxer is equipped with independent mole flaps and an open intake with a dramatic sound. It reaches a power of 403 hp at 7100 min^-1, m pekonv the sacred limit of 100 horses per liter. In combination with a low weight, the GBR003 always has enough power and lightness to reach the horizon, regardless of engine speed or gear ratio. At high revs, the wild side of the engine’s character is revealed, when it pulls with absolute ferocity and limits, and the power gradually scales all the time. This is accompanied by a stunning cut of the flat plinth, which you will enjoy with the patina of the roof.

Thanks to the lightweight single-mass flywheel, the GBR003 has a synaptic response to the throttle, while the eight-speed PMO gearbox, built to 993 RS specifications, is a joy to drive. When setting the pedals, be sure to mix the throttles with the throttle only to hear a flat pedal. Thanks to the power-to-weight ratio of 328 horsepower per tonne, the same as the 911 GT3 (991), the brakes are required, in this case the 911 RS (993).

The price of the 911 Targa by Theon Design is set at 415,000 pounds (just under 12 million crowns), because each car is a completely unique collaboration with the customer and its production takes 18 months. The price does not include tax, transport and local taxes.
