The Yanacochas at the Artistic Experimental Lyceum
- Liceo Experimental Artístico (LEA), Mapocho 3885, Quinta Normal.
- Friday, May 3 – 8:00 p.m.
After 36 years of absence, Los Yanacochas, the emblematic musical group that conquered the heart of Chile and the international stage in 1988 with their hit “Camino a Socoroma”, returns to mark a new chapter in the history of folk music.
The public will have the unique opportunity to witness the return of Los Yanacochas, who will perform with their original line-up, composed of Jorge Paredes, Danilo Lecaros, Danny Rodríguez and the recently integrated Wilson Padilla, professor at the School of Music of the University of Chile and transverse flute performer.
Additionally, on this long-awaited evening, the iconic song “Camino a Socoroma” will be recorded for the first time by its original members, promising a historic moment for Chilean music.
The Yanacochas, whose name finds its roots in the Aymara and Quechua languages, representing the “spirit of water”, was formed in 1984 at the Guillermo Feliú Cruz High School No. 71, in the commune of Maipú, to later expand throughout the country and beyond its borders.
During their career, the group achieved unforgettable successes, including first place at the Viña del Mar Song Festival in 1988 with “Camino a Socoroma”. Over the years, they have left their mark on national and international stages, bringing the richness of Chilean folk music to diverse audiences around the world.
