Egypt’s “Al-Ahram” film studio, one of the oldest in the world, was destroyed by fire.
Publika.az reports that the BBC reported on this.
It took several hours for firefighters to bring the blaze under control, and several buildings near the studio in Cairo’s Giza district had to be evacuated.
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations provided medical assistance to people who were poisoned by smoke at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The studio was founded in 1944. Several films and TV series have been shot here and broadcasted all over the world.
According to local mass media, the fire started 24 hours after the production company finished filming the TV series “Ramazan”.
Residents of nearby buildings were still sleeping on the ground in nearby streets early Saturday morning, according to AFP0.
The fire damaged the facade of 7 buildings. In a statement published by “Arab News”, the country’s prime minister announced that compensation will be paid to the affected families.
