Kea parrots are the only members of the genus Nestor and are among the most intelligent birds in the world, able to create and use simple tools.
They are well adapted to cold and harsh environments, have thick feathers and large beaks.
The omnivorous diet of the Kea parrot consists mainly of roots, leaves, berries, nectar, and insects, including carrion.
Kea parrots nest in caves or crevices between tree roots.
