Institutions that have joined Google Arts & Culture include the National Gallery, the National Museum, the National Theater, the Gallery of the City of Prague, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Mucha Foundation, the Olomouc Art Museum and others. In total, over 2,500 works and artifacts are presented in the project. Those interested can see the works of František Kupka, Toyen, Josef Čapek and a long line of other personalities or visit interesting places connected with the cultural life of our country thanks to more than 20 Street View collections.
“We are proud that, in cooperation with local institutions, we managed to bring the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic closer to people around the world,” said Amit Sood, director of Google Arts & Culture with the fact that this is the first collection dedicated to art, architecture and design, brought by Google Arts & Culture as part of the Czech Presidency of the European Union. “We hope that the combination of new technologies and rich Czech culture will provide users with many opportunities to discover engaging stories, exhibits and experiences that everyone can enjoy, wherever they are,” added Sood.

As the creators of the project point out, among the highlights of the collection is the life work of the painter Alfons Mucha The Slavic Epic in ultra high resolution, which people will be able to zoom in on the level of individual brushstrokes or the unevenness of the canvas. “The set of images, the largest of which measures over 6 x 8 meters, is among the largest ever captured at such a resolution on Google Arts & Culture,” they state.
