The White House denies that Musk is the legal manager of the Efficiency Department

The White House denied before a court that Elon Musk is the legal manager of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge, in English), an office that the president, Donald Trump, created for the tycoon to cut the public spending of the federal administration.

In a document presented on Monday before the Federal Court of the District of Columbia, the director of Administration of the White House, Joshua Fisher, explained that Musk is neither the administrator nor a Doge employee.

According to Fisher, the richest man in the world is actually a White House worker who exercises as an advisor to the president and who, therefore, has no direct authority to make government decisions.

The document does not clarify who is the legal manager of the Doge.

The revelation of the White House occurs in response to the demand that several Democratic prosecutors of different states presented accusing Trump of having delegated to Musk “an authority practically without control” and without the authorization of Congress.

The argument that Musk is not the legal manager of the Doge contrasts with the public statements made so far by Trump himself, Musk and Doge.

After winning the elections last November, Trump announced the creation of the Doge to cut the bureaucracy and placed the entrepreneurs Musk and Vivek brancaswamy in front, but the latter disconnected from the organism.

Musk spent last week in the Oval Office with Trump by dislocating before the press the actions that Doge is carrying out and ensuring, in the face of opposition criticism, that its management is “transparent.”

To date, the Doge and Musk have led the dismantling of entities such as the Agency for International Development (USAID) or the Office of Financial Protection of the Consumer (CFPB), responsible for monitoring Wall Street and protecting consumers.

The broad power of the entrepreneur within the administration has generated concern in some departments and a federal judge blocked the access of the Doge to the Treasury Department Payment System.
