“The West is responsible for the world’s problems,” for Sergei Lavrov

With these words, the Russian minister denounces the imperialism that Western countries try to exercise and justifies Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as an existential struggle against the “collective West”. An expansion of Western influence that would occur through the enlargement of NATO.

After the war in Ukraine Lavrov also underlines the responsibility of the United States in the conflicts that broke out in the Middle East. He blames many years of American foreign policy failures and calls for a reduction in tension. “It is essential to break the vicious cycle of violence and put an end to the injustice suffered by several generations of Palestinians,” he said.

Ceasefire in Ukraine

Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Sergei Lavrov believes that Ukraine is not ready to start negotiations to end the war, which Russia describes as a “special military operation”. “I must note that the Zelensky regime is not ready for peace. His representatives think only in terms of war and resort to completely aggressive rhetoric. There is no consideration for peace talks…. Draw your own conclusions,” proclaims Lavrov. President Zelensky refuses to enter into any negotiations as long as Russian forces are present on Ukrainian territory.

Finally, Lavrov recalled that Russia will continue its operations in Ukraine until its objectives are achieved.
