The West is a partner of the occupation in its aggression against Gaza – Al-Baath Media

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Miqdad stressed that the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation in its aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip were sponsored and supported by the United States and its allies in NATO, thus becoming partners in this aggression, expressing regret over the failure of the international organization to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that restores rights to their owners.

In a letter to the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, which held a special session last night to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Al-Miqdad stressed that the Israeli occupation entity is once again proving its barbarism, aggression and racism towards our people in occupied Palestine, as it continues its bombardment of the Gaza Strip, and has not left a hospital, school or place of worship untargeted, in addition to residential areas, and has dropped 40,000 tons of explosives, equivalent to the destructive power of three nuclear bombs of the type dropped on Hiroshima in Japan by its sponsor, the United States, which has resulted in the martyrdom and injury of tens of thousands of Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, in addition to the crimes of murder, arrest and human rights violations against thousands of residents of the West Bank and the rest of the Palestinian territories.

Al-Muqdad pointed out that the brutal practices of the occupation are the result of its existence based on the colonial ideology of its sponsors, the logic of apartheid, and the continuous expansion of its settlements, through the displacement of the indigenous population, killing them, seizing their property, and erasing their history, all under the auspices of the United States and its allies in NATO, who rushed to defend “Israel,” presenting false pretexts for its crimes, and supplying it with weapons and expertise, thus becoming a partner in this aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. What is more, it obstructs any role for the United Nations and kills its employees. He explained that the Israeli occupation entity did not stop there, but expanded its aggressive actions to include Lebanese and Syrian territories, which was evident in its repeated attacks on the airports of Damascus and Aleppo and Syrian territories in an attempt to escalate the situation in the region and threaten international peace and security.

Al-Miqdad reiterated Syria’s condemnation in the strongest terms of the barbaric Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and its denunciation of all attempts aimed at presenting deadly, distorted and misleading interpretations of the Charter, the “right to self-defense”, and the equality between the killer and the victim, and its demand to hold the occupying entity accountable and question it for the crimes it has committed and continues to commit against the Palestinian people, stressing Syria’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination and return, and to establish their independent state on all their occupied territories with Jerusalem as its capital, and to end the Israeli occupation of the occupied Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan, and to implement all relevant UN resolutions, including Security Council resolutions, foremost among which are resolutions 242, 338 and 497.

Al-Muqdad expressed the regret and disappointment felt by the member states of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, due to the failure of the United Nations over many decades to restore rights to their owners, and to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, which has accompanied the international organization since its inception, noting that this failure is not consistent with upholding and implementing the pledges, principles and lofty purposes of the Charter.
