The US authorities will allocate 40 million dollars to Argentina for defense needs, within the framework of the program of military assistance to foreign countries. This was stated in the message of the US Embassy in Argentina.
“The United States is proud to announce that it is providing Argentina with $40 million under the Foreign Military Assistance Program to support defense modernization. It is the first time since 2003 that Argentina receives funds from the US military aid program,” the US diplomatic mission said in a statement.
The embassy added that providing aid to Argentina allows spending the allocated funds “for defense products, training and services in the US, as well as improving cooperation with the US armed forces.”
“The aid will contribute to Argentina’s military modernization efforts and support the country’s acquisition of F-16 supersonic fighters,” the statement said.
According to the embassy, the US government is working closely with Argentine partners to further strengthen the security of the republic and the defense partnership between the countries under the auspices of the F-16 program.
The announcement of the US Embassy was made after the Argentine authorities submitted an application to cooperate with NATO as a global partner on April 18.
