The United Nations has adopted the first global resolution on artificial intelligence – 2024-03-22 19:21:14

The UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the first global resolution on artificial intelligence (AI). It calls on countries to protect human rights, personal data and monitor AI to identify risks. This was reported by the Reuters agency.

The non-binding resolution was proposed by the United States and co-sponsored by China and more than 120 countries.

“Today, all 193 countries of the United Nations General Assembly spoke with one voice and decided together to rule artificial intelligence, not let it rule us,” said Linda Thomas-Greenfield, US Ambassador to the United Nations.

According to the resolution, the “improper or malicious design, development, deployment, and use of artificial intelligence systems . . . create dangers” and may harm the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

In November, the US, UK and more than a dozen other countries introduced the first detailed international agreement to protect artificial intelligence from fraudulent actors.
