“Unfortunately, even though four months have passed since its approval, any “time-plan” for the implementation of the projects specified in the master plan has not been publicly announced.”
Publika.az reports that blogger-urban planner Anar Aliyev said these words in his statement to BAKU.WS.
According to him, the main document of the Master Plan envisages the implementation of a pilot project around the Heydar Aliyev Center and Agha Neymatulla Street, but there is no official information from the implementing agencies:
“The master plan mentions the creation of tram or metrobus lines. The goal of creating these types of transport is mentioned in the document, but it is not mentioned exactly which one will be – a classic tram with rails or BRT (Bus Rapid Transit – a bus that moves quickly with a separated lane).
The relevant bodies responsible for transport (Ground Transport Agency and “Azerbaijan Demir Yollari” JSC) do not announce plans for the exact launch of the tram. The construction of BRT or tram lines on Azadlig Avenue, Neftchilar Avenue, Fuzuli Street is reflected in the main plan. This may be appropriate, and it would also be appropriate on Gara Garayev avenue.”
The expert said the following about the metro lines development plan:
“First of all, the circular line project should be completed (Hazi Aslanov and Khatai stations should be combined), and 3 stations should be built between the “Koroglu” and “Darnagul” stations. For this, approximately 3 billion manats are needed.
I would like to note once again that even though almost 4 months have passed since the approval of the master plan, its implementation plan has not been disclosed to the public by any state institution.
