Muslim Academy Multan was an ancient educational institution which was rendering its practical services in the private sector for the last several decades. Although this institution was private in nature, its administrators did not create it for the purpose of business. His method of teaching and excellent results every year were a practical manifestation that the institution was built to fulfill a higher purpose.
The owner of the Muslim Academy, Prof. Dr. Almas, was a man of good character and a friend of knowledge. He had a double doctorate degree in Urdu literature and Islamic studies. Almas Sahib was not in favor of mixed education of male and female students, so he had built separate campuses for male and female students in the Muslim Academy. There was also a hostel arrangement for the students coming from far away, which provided excellent training and balanced diet to the resident children.
For the physical development of residential students, it was necessary to choose one sport from badminton, football and volleyball. Adjacent to the hostel was an empty plot where football practice was conducted while volleyball and badminton nets were installed in a small garden inside the hostel where regular matches were held.
Thus, this institution would pay special attention to health and character building along with the prevailing education of the students.
Besides being the owner of the Muslim Academy, Prof. Dr. Almas was also the administrator and principal of the academy.
At the end of 2005, a man named Mehboob Abbasi came to his office. Full body, around 50 years of age and looked a reliable person in terms of looks and appearance. He first congratulated Almas Sahib that the passion with which he is devoting his energies to sharing the wealth of knowledge without any worldly greed is indeed admirable.
At first, Professor Almas Sahib understood that this person might want to enroll a child or a relative in the academy, so he started telling him the details of the establishment of the Muslim Academy, the knowledge-friendly environment and the annual results. . Almas Sahib pointed to the ‘honours board’ displayed on the wall and said that every year two or three children of our academy are definitely position holders in matric and intermediate. Position holders of our academy in Multan board during last six years can see names of children on this board.
Suddenly, Mahboob Abbasi started crying. Almas Sahib, being a soft-hearted person, came to this person, put his hand on his back and said that there are students studying in the Muslim Academy who cannot bear the burden of education due to poverty. Well, if they are worried about that, they don’t need to worry at all.
Mahbub Abbasi took off his spectacles and while cleaning the glass with his shirt said: ‘Sir, my story is very painful but I cannot tell my pain in front of everyone, because you are human beings who suffer. Therefore, my heart wants to lighten the burden of my heart in front of you.’
Almas Sahib raised a glass of water towards Mahboob Abbasi and comforted him to speak his mind freely. Mahbub Abbasi heaved a long cold sigh and began to speak.
‘My name is Mehboob Abbasi, I am a native of Muzaffarabad, Kashmir. I had a very big cloth shop in Muzaffarabad named Abbasi Cloth House, Allah blessed me with two sons and one daughter. The daughter was the eldest among the children and was doing MBBS in China. My two sons, 14-year-old Ahsan and 11-year-old Mohsin, were ninth and seventh class students respectively in an English school. The elder son wanted to become a police officer by doing CSS while the younger son was interested in becoming an officer in the army.’
‘Till September 2005, life was lived in luxury. Allah, by His Grace and Mercy, had kept them away from all kinds of pain, trials and troubles. I had to go to Faisalabad for two or three days every two or three months to check accounts with garment factories and book new goods.’

On the night of October 6, I left Muzaffarabad for Faisalabad with my manager. Next morning we reached Faisalabad. It took us two days to check the accounts with the factories. The next day, we were to return to Muzaffarabad after booking the new goods, when that unfortunate hour came which was not even imagined. I received a call from a fellow shopkeeper saying that due to the earthquake in Muzaffarabad, my house had collapsed and my entire family had perished under the rubble. I’m all over Sir. all dreams There is no reason to live anymore.’
With that, Mehboob Abbasi started crying again. Prof. Almas Sahib, while tying his dars, himself got drowned.
Mehboob Abbasi further stated that after burying his family, he became semi-insane and stayed with various relatives for a long time who kept him under the treatment of a psychiatrist. Then he sold the shop as he was no longer able to continue the business. Finally, when his health recovered, he continued to work as a servant in a charity organization in Lahore. The lakhs of rupees that were received by selling the shop were also given to an orphanage in Lahore.
Mehboob said that ‘I came to Multan a week ago, calling it Khairabad too, if some irregularities were noticed in the charity institution.’
The professor reassured him that he was ready to help him in every possible way.
Mehboob Abbasi said that ‘I don’t want anything. I have no one left in this world. Daughter after MBBS and specialization got a job in a medical college in China and got married to a Qatari classmate and settled there. I heard about your institution and your personality. I want to offer my services to you.’
He said that ‘I have done the BA of old times. I can teach all subjects except maths till matric. I don’t want any salary etc. All the children of this nation are my benefactors, I have passion to prepare them for practical life so that they can serve the nation by becoming doctors, engineers, bureaucrats.’
He took a promise from Almas Sahib that he will not share his sad story with anyone because he is a self-confident man and is not used to receiving sympathy.
Professor Almas Sahib was so influenced by the words of Mahboob Abbasi that he called the hostel warden of Muslim Academy and said that Mahboob Abbasi Sahib is our new faculty member, he should be allotted a faculty room in the hostel. The next day the professor assigned the duty of a senior teacher to take Mehboob Abbasi to all the sections of the academy and introduce him to the teachers and students.
Mehboob Abbasi used to make a comprehensive speech in every class he went to. Encourages children to move forward. Hearing his thoughts, the hearts of children and teachers were also touched.
Within a few days, Mahbub Abbasi became the most popular and beloved figure in the academy. Impressed by his popularity, Prof. Almas Sahib entrusted him with the responsibilities of a ‘motivational speaker’. Which he knew how to do well.
Mahbub Abbasi used to spend most of his time in Almas Sahib’s office during the day. He would give them such prescriptions for improving the academy, reducing expenses, that Almas Sahib could not help but admire his genius.
Within two months, Mahboob Abbasi was made the vice-principal. Prof. Almas would forcefully put some money in his pocket every month, but he would also use this money to buy something for the renovation of the academy.
Almas Sahib, as the vice-principal, entrusted Mehboob Abbasi with the supervision of accounts-related matters, including children’s admissions, collection of monthly fees, teachers’ salaries and payment of utility bills.
Gradually, Almas Sahib’s confidence in Mahboob Abbasi increased, if any of the teachers asked Almas Sahib about the background of Mahboob Abbasi, Almas Sahib would end the conversation by saying that his close relatives were in the village, so he gave them his support. called for
The Muslim Academy also had three Suzuki carry boxes which were used to transport resident students, or to bring rations to the academy mess. The account of the academy was in Muslim Commercial Bank. Mehboob Abbasi would often go with the accountant to deposit the amount of fees received in the bank every month and on his return would present all the receipts of the collected amount to Almas Sahib.
Almas Sahib was very happy that he has found a sincere and reliable person in the form of Mahboob Abbasi who is looking after all his work and also keeping him informed about each and every thing. Teachers and students also felt comfortable talking to Mahboob Abbasi instead of the principal.
This process continued for about six months. Then suddenly one day there was a call on Almas Sahib’s office number. When Almas Sahib picked up the phone, a person named Nadeem asked to speak to Mahboob Abbasi.
Almas Sahib asked him to contact Mehboob Abbasi’s mobile number. Nadeem said in a slightly harsh tone, ‘I have been calling his mobile number since night, but the number is being switched off. I need car papers anyway.’
Almas Sahib asked him, ‘Tell me openly, brother, what do I want, which car’s papers are you talking about?’
Nadeem said: ‘I am the owner of Aqsa showroom. Yesterday your vice principal had sold the carry box and promised to deliver the vehicle papers to Syria, but still not getting the papers, not even contact. From above, we had also made a payment of four and a half lakhs keeping the reputation of your organization in front.
Almas Saheb’s mind was lost. There was darkness in front of his eyes, he made several calls to Mehboob Abbasi’s number from his mobile phone but it was switched off.
Almas Sahib immediately checked the hostel and the watchman told that he had not come to the hostel since last night and his luggage and laptop were not in the room.
Almas Sahib called an emergency meeting of the faculty and asked all the teachers about Mahboob Abbasi but could not find any trace from anywhere.
Meanwhile, the accountant told Almas Sahib that 12 lakh rupees collected as total fees were taken by Mahboob Abbasi Sahib to be deposited in the bank account but he has not given the receipt yet. Almas Sahib immediately contacted the bank manager for confirmation. After checking the records, the bank manager said that no money has been deposited in his account this month.
Professor Almas could not understand how he could trust a stranger so much.
Gradually, the teachers of the school also got the news that the beloved Abbasi Professor Almas Sahib has been scammed by paying lakhs of rupees.
On the insistence of the teachers, Prof. Almas Sahib, being the concerned SHO, called me and asked for an appointment to meet me, narrating the gist of the unfortunate incident that happened to him.
I had heard the name of Professor Almas Sahib regarding the Muslim Academy. I replied that I myself am coming to your academy. The case was very strange and I wanted to know all the details, so I reached the Muslim Academy in no time.
Principal Professor Almas was sitting in his room in a very sad state. I reassured them that God willing, the accused will soon be brought under the law. But you have to tell all the details from A to Z.
The professor told me all the details that happened from the initial meeting with Mehboob Abbasi to the day of the incident which you have read above.
He requested that his academy has a name, people prefer to enroll their children here because of its good name, otherwise there is more than one institution in Multan. If all these details are recorded in the FIR, our reputation will suffer. First fifteen two million has been lost, now the honor will also continue to go, so they don’t want legal action.
I reassured them that it was my loss and not yours and also assured them that there would be no damage to their reputation or that of their organization, but not registering a case would encourage the accused and He will trap even more nobles like you.
I consulted the legal branch and told them that they can file the case as a common citizen instead of the Honorable Muslim Academy so that the name of the institution will not be mentioned and disciplinary action can also be taken by registering a case against the accused. .
Finally, after a lot of backlash, Professor Almas Sahib was ready for the enrollment case.
Almas Sahib did not have any document except the copy of Mehboob Abbasi’s identity card. That copy may also have been taken by Almas Sahib to play with their joint bank account, but later it could not be implemented due to the refusal of Mahboob Abbasi.
A case was registered under Section 420/468/471/406 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Prof. Almas Sahib. According to Almas Sahib’s wish, his name and address of his native house as per his identity card were entered in the complaint box in the FIR.
It was clear from the details that the accused was very cunning, clever and determined. I took a copy of Mehboob Abbasi’s identity card from Almas Sahib. The address of Muzaffarabad was given on the identity card.
I called a friend posted at NADRA HQ Islamabad and requested him to provide the identity card data of Mehboob Abbasi and the details of his other family members.
I thought that something would work out, but the response from NADRA office was very disappointing. No family information was recorded in this ID card information.
I told an old university classmate of mine, a resident of Muzaffarabad, over the phone the details of the incident and requested him to collect information about the accused as per the address on the identity card.
In my professional experience, if a suspect is a resident of another province or territory, it is more beneficial to use a local source for information about the suspect before contacting the local police.
In the next few hours, my friend gave me another disappointing news that the address given on the ID card was not only fake, but there was no one living with that name in the entire area.
I was convinced that this ID card was created under a fake name and all the information entered in it was also fake, so it was just a waste of time to proceed based on them. I first blocked this ID card through NADRA so that the accused could not use this ID card anywhere else.
I contacted the professor and told him to contact the staff and also check the records, maybe a fingerprint of the accused Mahboob Abbasi will be found somewhere because all the information given on the ID card is fake.
It was very important to get any new evidence to move this investigation forward.
By the grace of Allah, and after an hour, Prof. Almas Sahib told over the phone that a stamp paper dated two months ago has been found from the check record, which has the signature and thumbprint of Mahbub Abbasi as a witness.
This was a big news for me. Professor Almas Sahib said that we had bought a two and a half marla piece of land adjacent to the academy from a party two months ago for five lakhs as we were in dire need of a parking space. Mahbub Abbasi was with me at that time, he signed the agreement deed as a witness and on the stamp seller’s insistence, he was forced to register his thumb, although he was not willing.
I again requested help from the same friend of mine posted at NADRA HQ and on his instructions sent the ASI (Investigating Officer) to NADRA HQ Islamabad by giving a stamp paper. When these fingerprints were examined, two useful findings emerged. For one thing, this thumbprint was completely different from the thumbprint on Mehboob Abbasi’s ID card, so my suspicion was proved right. This identity card was completely fake.
On the other hand, the thumbprint on the stamp paper matched 100 percent with another ID. According to the information that came out, the person’s name was Aslam Iqbal son of Muhammad Iqbal and he was a resident of Faisalabad. Along with this we also got the records of the entire family of this person.
Now the bundles were unraveling. The chances of getting access to the accused were getting brighter. Now we wanted Aslam Iqbal alias Mehboob Abbasi as accused.
We checked the record of Aslam Iqbal son of Muhammad Iqbal from Ghulam Muhammadabad police station, Faisalabad. According to police records, he was unregistered, meaning no case was registered against him. This was also very surprising to me.
We had secretly verified the new details, name, parentage, home address revealed by his fingerprints, while the people of the accused’s neighborhood had also confirmed his identity by seeing his photograph.
I informed the higher officers about the whole situation and took the name of Allah and left for Faisalabad. After reaching there, they filed a report in the resident police station of the accused and proceeded to the house of the accused along with the local police.
One of our local informants was giving us minute-by-minute reports about the accused. He said that the accused Aslam Iqbal is currently at his elder brother’s house in Railway Colony instead of his own house, so we immediately raided the address given by the informer and arrested the accused.
Accused Aslam Iqbal made shocking revelations during the investigation. He told during investigation that his education is only matriculation and he has done diploma in computer and he has been living a life of luxury for last ten years only through renovation.
It revealed 18 incidents in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Abbottabad, Sahiwal and Multan.
The interrogation revealed that Aslam Iqbal was a very cunning person, he did every incident with a new name, new method and new script. Before committing the crime, he would work on his target for a month, strategize and then commit the crime.
As he had never revealed his real name in any incident, there was no criminal record of him even in his residential police station. He didn’t have a bank account, he used to invest the looted money in the stock market through a broker or buy cryptocurrencies online.
Out of the looted money from the Muslim Academy, only four lakh rupees could be recovered, which he used to sell the car in the Aqsa showroom. He had bought the rest of the cryptocurrency. I explained to the plaintiff Prof. Almas Sahib that he should file an application with the FIA for registration of a fresh case as his online illegal activity falls under the category of cybercrime which is the jurisdiction of the FIA rather than the police. .
But perhaps Almas Sahib was hesitant in view of the damage to the reputation of his organization and he seized the recovery of four lakhs.
The local people of the accused Aslam Iqbal knew that Aslam Iqbal has been associated with a big paper manufacturing and importing party in China for the last ten years, so when he disappeared for a long time, the impression was that he was out of the country. has gone out.
The accused said that he had initially worked as a computer operator in various private companies. He got married in 1994, but because of the extremely low pay and long working hours, he often fought at home, the marriage lasted barely eight months, and then his wife left him. Since then, he quit his job as a computer operator and decided to become a revenant and accumulate wealth.
We sent his investigation report with all the revelations to all the police stations where he had committed the incidents. Accused Aslam Iqbal was summoned in the case with all the evidence. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labor and fined by the court for fraud and cheating.
As of last reported, he was lodged in Abbottabad jail in another fraud case.
