The third round of the world’s largest elections has started in India, during which 11 states and territories will vote for 93 parliamentary seats. The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, voted in the elections, calling on the citizens to show great participation.
Reuters reported that while voting in his home state of Gujarat, Modi also warned about the heat, urging people to take care of their health and drink plenty of water.
According to the results of the third round of elections, 283 of the 543 elected members of the parliament will be elected.
Elections in India started on April 19 and are being held in 7 phases. Almost 1 billion people have the right to vote. Ballots will be counted on June 4.
Prime Minister Modi is trying to be re-elected for the third time. His “Indian People’s Party” (BJP – Bharatiya Janata Party) is fighting against a coalition of more than two dozen opposition parties.
According to forecasts, Modi’s party will get a majority in the parliament.
