More than a quarter of a century. That’s how long the head of the Czech Tennis Association (ČTS) was the controversial boss Ivo Kaderka (60). But now he has been replaced by lawyer Jakub Kotrba, who was elected by the members of the extraordinary general meeting. However, if you expect everything to go smoothly from now on, you are seriously mistaken…
As one of the biggest achievements in life so far. This is how Jakub Kotrba can evaluate the fact that he was elected as the new chairman of the Czech Tennis Association. But he knows very well that he has a lot of work ahead of him. Above all, in the matter of finances.
“Union finances are in a very sad state at the moment. There is a debt or overdraft to Moneta money bank,” Kotrba spoke for Radio journal. “After that, if I’m not mistaken, there are other receivables from ordinary business in the order of about 30 million. Plus the potential looming fine from the tax authority. These are the most basic things,” described a difficult situation.
At the same time, Kotrba added that from Monday they will be able to take full control over the union’s finances and find out the current situation. When the newly minted boss was asked where he plans to get 30 million to pay the penalty from the National Sports Agency for machinations with subsidies, he mentioned, for example, possible cooperation with Agel or member contributions.
“Of course, it will depend on the friendliness of the tax office, how the request for an installment plan is approached. We would like it to be as least lethal to the union as possible,” admitted Kotrba. So the union still has a lot of work to do.
