Moroccan director Adel Al-Fadhli presented, on Wednesday evening, at the “Abenida” hall in Tetouan, his new film “My Father Is Not Dead,” which is participating in the official competition of the Mediterranean Film Festival in its 29th session.
According to its maker, the tape “My Father Is Not Dead” sheds light on a dark period in Moroccan history. It is about the years of bullets that claimed the lives of innocent people who had nothing to do with politics, in a poignant way that tells the stories of this segment of society that were not referred to in previous cinematic works that touched on this period of time.
Moroccan doctor and art critic Abdel Salam Dukhan said, in a statement to Hespress, that the film “My Father Did Not Die” by Adel Al-Fadhli “is considered a distinguished cinematic work because it questions memory and history from what can be called a small society that lives a joyful life, but entering politics by chance changes the course of this… “In small lives, this joy almost disappears due to the interference and influence of authority.”
The same critic continued, “This is a symbolic technique to refer to the years that Morocco lived through and were linked to political transformations,” highlighting that “the filmmaking in this tape contributed to conveying an important message that a person has the right to live in this country and express his opinions, and that cinema is a means.” To reconcile with memory and to achieve inner peace in man.
For her part, Moroccan researcher Laila Chradi said, in a statement to Hespress on the sidelines of the film’s screening, that the latter influenced her greatly, praising its story, the plot of its screenplay, and the way it was filmed.
The same speaker added that this film made her feel like she was watching something new in Moroccan cinema, expressing her praise and warm applause for director Adel Al-Fadili.
It is worth noting that the tape “My Father Is Not Dead” includes the participation of Omar Lutfi, Nadia Kunda, Abdel Nabi Al-Banawi, Fatima Atef, rapper Don Big, and others.
