The State Minister of Health and Family Welfare has called on the two city corporations of Dhaka to collect information on mosquito larvae from house to house in the capital. Rokeya Sultana.
He said, ‘From the city corporation, we need to go door to door to find out the information about larvae. Penalties will be imposed if the rules are not followed. People who will be obstructed in the health care of the country, should be fined and stricter rules should be taken.
He said these things at the special meeting on dengue and chikungunya prevention held in the meeting room of the Ministry of Health at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 19).
Health Minister presided over the special meeting. Samant Lal Sen. Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam were present in the meeting.

Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Fazle Noor Tapos said that all dengue patients should be given timely medical care. No patient can be sent home without treatment. Why women and children died more in dengue 2023 should be researched and action taken. Besides, people should be given correct information.
Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam said, we have to work together to prevent dengue disease. Let there be no difference between us. As we have collectively tackled Corona, we will also jointly tackle dengue. At the same time, we have to take the initiative to buy medicines by taking more precautions and checking and checking to buy medicines this year.

After listening to everyone at the meeting, Health Minister Dr. Samant Lal Sen said, according to the statistical data of the coordination meeting, the number of dengue patients treated in Bangladesh in the last 23 years – in the last year 2023 was more infected than in one year.
He said, in the last 23 years, the total number of dengue patients in the country was about 250,000. But in last year 2023, almost 3 lakh patients were affected in just one year. This number is only for hospitalizations. Apart from this, there were more patients. This means that we have no choice but to be careful about dengue patients.
The minister also said that to prevent dengue we have to kill mosquitoes on the one hand, on the other hand we have to be alert and aware in advance to reduce the outbreak. First of all we need to increase community involvement and awareness in our respective areas. Just like we need to buy quality medicine to kill mosquitoes, we also need to have good medical facilities. However, all sectors have to work together to keep it going, as the initiatives started today to prevent dengue.
