Rabbits from the hat Bob and Bobek were the mascots of the WC. However, the foxes Robert Záruba (56) and Jakub Voráček (34) became the symbols of the golden climb to the hockey Olympus. The former hockey player now described how he had to “resurrect” his colleague during the final.
After weeks of enormous workload, Zárubov’s fainting was caused by David Pastrňák’s (27) masterful strike against the Swiss. Another time, a talky reporter lost his speech. “Robert’s toys fell into the canal during that goal,” laughed »Voras«. “He lost his voice. Or the brain?” the hockey player asked in the podcast Hockey without red.
How to revive Zaruba?
“I really didn’t know where I was for a while,” Záruba said seriously. “We had euphoria. At first, we started shouting together. And then Robert wanted to say something and it went completely blank. I then looked at him and said: Are you okay?’ said Voracek. He didn’t get an answer! “What did you see. Just a glassy look? I was really sick” confirmed the re-seasoned bard behind the microphone.
Luckily, Jakub didn’t have to call SOS for his friend. He just smashed into the commentator and he returned to the stormy reality. Even so. “I’ve already imagined what we’d do if things went wrong with Rob. He would fall under the table. I would have to revive you somehow,” Jakub winked at Robert. He downplayed everything: “It wasn’t that much stress, but it’s a fact that my head really turned off for a while,” he added.

But Voráček also experienced great suffering. Commenting on the World Cup is sometimes worse than doing the Way of the Cross. During the tournament, he walked into the O2 arena only in flip flops. But the casual style had its own reason, which Robert Záruba called suffering. “I’ve had tendinitis since the preparation in Brno,” the former NHL superstar revealed. “I couldn’t even wear normal shoes, it hurt so much,” he admitted, adding that he even had to cool his feet in a bucket of ice during one match. And he also admitted that he was at the bottom for a while after the marathon of transmissions. “On Sunday and Monday, I lay down between games. I came home with a temperature and it was terrible. I was given three days of antibiotics, I sat it out,” described a sorry state of affairs.

I said to Robert: Dude, maybe they’re rooting for the Swiss. I had a problem with that. But the gentleman sensed it in me, so he was calm.
