The lifestyle of long-lived people has some characteristic features.
Publika.az reports that in an interview with Lenta.ru, N.I. Anton Naumov, geriatrician, professor of the Department of Aging Diseases of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, said. According to the expert, people move a lot in places where there are a lot of longevity. It’s not about sports, it’s about natural daily activities. For example, according to him, women in Okinawa sit and get up more than 90 times a day, while men in Sardinia cover 30-35 kilometers a day.
The second feature that Naumov valued is related to nutrition. According to the professor, the diet of long-lived people is dominated by plants, fruits and vegetables.
“Long-lived people in the blue zones consume 1800-1900 kilocalories, that is, they consume 80 percent of the food we consider essential for basal metabolism,” said the professor.
Naumov also believes that in regions where life expectancy often exceeds 100 years, people have a greater purpose in life, an interesting social circle, and close ties to family and loved ones.
“There is a term in Japanese called ‘ikigai’, which literally means ‘the meaning of life.’ People in Japan know that they have to wake up in the morning for their ‘ikigai.’ they have certain monthly, even annual goals and tasks. This is a serious factor affecting life expectancy,” Naumov concluded.
