The second train of the Bogotá Metro arrives in Colombia: this is how the work progresses

The dream of seeing the Bogotá Metro in operation It’s finally starting to take shape. At the beginning of this week, the second train on Line 1a new milestone for the megaproject that promises to change the capital’s mobility and mark a before and after in the history of public transportation.

The train, made up of six cars, arrived at the port of Cartagena on Monday, October 6 after its trip from the port of Qingdao, in China. There the unloading and technical inspection process began before its transfer to the Bosa workshop patiowhere it will be assembled and subjected to static and dynamic tests.

The Bogotá Metro Company (EMB) reported that this new unit is part of the total fleet of 30 trains that will operate the first line, currently with a physical advance greater than 64 %. This second convoy will join the first, which is already in the capital carrying out braking, control and energy tests.

The official profile of the Bogotá Metro on X (formerly Twitter) announced: “Good news for Bogotá! Yesterday it arrived at the port of Cartagena, from China, the second train of Line 1, made up of six cars. “Today the unloading process began and it will soon continue its journey to the Bosa workshop yard.”

Galán has insisted that the Metro is a work of the city and the nation, which must transcend governments and parties. “This is not a project that belongs to a few, but a collective project that represents the drive of a society.

“This project must be taken care of by all Colombians and all Bogota residents,” reiterated, highlighting that in August the monthly advance was 2,52 %the highest recorded so far.

Each train in the system will have the capacity to 1,800 passengers and can reach a maximum speed of 80 km/hwhich will reduce travel times and offer a cleaner, modern and efficient transportation.

With this new arrival, the project remains firm towards its goal: to begin operations at the end of 2026. Meanwhile, Bogota residents are beginning to see how the dream of the subway stops being a promise and becomes, little by little, a reality that feels closer.
