How much will teachers’ salaries increase?

Publika.az reports that this was written by Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis, on his social network account.

One of the main questions addressed to us in social networks is related to salary increases for teachers. Whether the increases are based on certification results or general principles is one of the issues discussed.

It should be noted that in 2024, increases in the amount of funds allocated to education are taken into account. This year, the amount of funds allocated to the education sector increased by 142.8 million manats compared to the previous year and reached 4 billion 549 million manats. 2 billion 372 million manats of these funds are direct general education expenses. In terms of salary increases, another important point is the allocation of 93.6 million manats from the budget this year. 71 million manats of these funds will be directed to certification, 22.6 million manats will be directed to the salaries of school principals and deputies. This means that the salaries of teachers who are successful in certification will be increased. This year, 30,000 teachers are expected to participate in the certification exams.

According to the current rules, the salary of those who scored 30-50 points in the exam stage increases by 10.0, and the salaries of those who scored 51-60 points increase by 35.0. There is a need to change the differential system and adapt salary increases to modern evaluation systems. In this regard, we suggest that the financial capacity of the 35 percent salary increase of our teachers who answered more than 80 percent of the general questions correctly, that is, 48 points, should be calculated and the relevant rules should be amended accordingly.
