From February 28 to 29, crew members attended a number of activities in Quang Ninh. On March 2, the boats left Ha Long to continue their journey to Cuu Chau port, Chau Hai City, Guangdong Province, China.
On this occasion, Quang Ninh province will organize a number of activities to welcome the racing crew and promote local tourism such as introducing OCOP products, organizing sightseeing programs, and surveying destinations for the Clipper Race crew, conference to promote, advertise and attract investment in Quang Ninh tourism associated with the race award ceremony, boat tours and art programs.
The Clipper Race sailing tournament started in October 1996 in the city of Plymouth, UK. Currently, more than 50 cities around the world are the race’s stops.
Among the 400 participants in the race are many scientists, businessmen, investors, doctors, journalists, and celebrities on social networks. In addition, there are also a large number of tourists who are relatives of sailors and international media flocking to the race destinations.
Quang Ninh Province wants to take advantage of this opportunity to promote its tourism image to tourists around the world, especially tourists from European, North American, and Australian markets.
The 2023-2024 season is divided into 8 stages with 16 individual races and 6 ocean crossings with 11 racing boats, including the Quang Ninh team participating with the name “Ha Long Bay, Vietnam”. In the past four races, the Quang Ninh racing team is ranked 3rd with a total of 29 points.
