The international Robotek Grand Tournament championship ended in Astana, which again confirmed the mission of the country IT brand of Kazakhstan, reports Liter.kz.

The Robotek Grand Tournament is growing from championship to championship – in three years the championship has turned into a landmark event in domestic robotics. The first RGT, held in 2022, united the capital’s schoolchildren. Next time, the best teams in the country met on the Robotek fields. This year the championship reached the international level for the first time. Successful teams of young roboticists from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan arrived in Astana.

From the very first championship, the Robotek Grand Tournament as a unique platform of world standards has been created together with the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Daryn” and the capital center “Astana Daryn”.

In 2024, the winners of regional Robotek Grand Tournaments from all regions of the country entered the main competition. More than 250 schoolchildren in several age groups competed in the Robotek, Mergen, Inverse Line Race, Flag Delivery, Delivery Robot and Sorting Robot categories. The best roboticists from Turkic-speaking countries united on the fields of the Robotek Grand Tournament under the Kazakh shanyrak. As part of the global initiative TurkTime! Memorandums of cooperation were signed between the domestic company “Robotek” and the successful teams of the presidential lyceum “Akylman” (Cholpon-Ata), the international network “Sapat” (Bishkek), the Seytek STEM educational complex (Tokmak), the Uzbek educational centers SteamLand and Roboschool from Tashkent and Chirchik , as well as the Tajik “League of Robots”.

The Astana memorandums continue the large-scale partnership between Kazakh schoolchildren and world leaders in sports robotics. In November 2023, at the World Robot Olympiad in Panama, Robotek has already secured a strategic partnership with the well-known US center for educational services in the field of STEM – Chasewood Learning, Xingtai No. 19 Secondary School from Hebei, China, and the Azerbaijani Robotics Engineering Academy AREA.

The global uniqueness of the Robotek Grand Tournament is that the Astana championship continues the transfer of Kazakh intellectual technologies to global robotics.

We are interested in large-scale national and international robotics competitions; the Robotek Grand Tournament is completely Kazakhstani in content and is held according to proprietary regulations. This inspires children to come up with new engineering solutions. The mission of the championship is absolutely consistent with the mission of our company – to help children take a confident step into the future. We are working to create a new generation of domestic engineering reserve for the real economy. Schoolchildren who today design and program robots at championships will be in demand at the enterprises of tomorrow,” emphasized Sanjar Shalkarbekov, general director of the company.

At the championship, Robotek’s mascot Teko was presented for the first time, and in just the first hour he received thousands of views on social networks in the country and the world. The unique good luck talisman was created by Ural schoolgirl Dilnaz Nurgalieva, who won the republican competition for the most creative sketch.

The main Cup – “El Kubogi” – was taken to Uralsk by the West Kazakhstan region team.

This year, for the first time, three special nominations were introduced: “Best Engineering Solution,” the winners of which were Ibragim Iskanderov and Nurislam Erdeshov from the city of Kentau, Turkestan region. Bekzhan Mukhtarbek and Roman Pronyakov registered the “Best Rural Team” cup in the Aksu district of the Zhetysu region, and Artem Appazov and Jahongir Mamajanov took the title of “Best Foreign Team” to the Uzbek Chirchik.

A grant for studying at the School of Information Technology and Engineering of the country’s flagship university, the Kazakh-British Technical University, was awarded to Miras Slyamgazy from the Urjar district of the Abay region.

The creation of a new country IT brand of Kazakhstan, Robotek Grand Tournament, proves the interest in the prestigious championship in more than 20 countries that are ready to come to Astana next year.

For us, participation in the Robotek Grand Tournament is an excellent opportunity to look into the future, check with Kazakhstani standards and move forward,” admitted Firuz Bakoev, head of the Tajik Robot League, which became the champion at the World Robot Olympiad in Panama in 2023.

Next year, young roboticists from the United States, China, Turkey, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and other countries intend to meet on the sidelines of the Robotek Grand Tournament in Astana.
