In Munshiganj, the main Muktarpur-Binodpur road of Sadar has been accused of running a cow market by stopping traffic. Due to this, the road users have to suffer a lot. If anyone wants to talk about this, the volunteers of the hut come with sticks.
On Sunday (June 16) at around 11:30 a.m., Titas gas office area adjacent to Muktarpur Bridge, hut volunteers with sticks in hand. They stopped traffic on Dhaka-Muktarpur-Tongibari road. The road has been blocked with cement sacks and bamboo. If anyone goes to protest about this, the volunteers are coming with abuse and sticks.
According to Sadar Upazila Parishad sources, this year Muktarpur cow market was leased for 34 lakh 85 thousand rupees by Abdul Matin, who is known to be close to Panchsar UP Chairman Golam Mostafa. Along with the hat committee, the chairman’s people are also influencing the road as volunteers.
Autorickshaw passenger Sumit Sarkar said, ‘Some young men stopped the autorickshaw carrying me in front of Titus Gas office near Panchsar Union Parishad. When asked to know, they said that they are people of cow market. Each of them had flutes and sticks in their hands. At the same time they turned back 5-7 other cars like me from this route.’
Another Munshiganj-bound passenger, Sathi Akhter, said, ‘Hats have been set up in a larger area than what is supposed to be. After that the road has been closed again for their convenience. How powerful is it possible to show thumbs up to the administration!’
Local Ashraf Ali said, ‘I have seen steel switch sticks with some of those who are there as volunteers. They are saying that the chairman gave this instruction.
When asked, Abdul Matin, the lessee of Muktarpur animal market, said, ‘We have not closed any road. I have arranged for the road to be operational. Go see if necessary.’
In this regard UP Chairman Golam Mostafa said, ‘I have no relation with the hut. I went to the market only to buy cows. I did not ask anyone to block the road. If anyone has said my name, he will be judged.’
Munshiganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Afifa Khan said, no one has been instructed to block the road and set up a market. Action will be taken if people are treated badly and the market is closed by blocking the road.’
