The Revenue Administration suggested that the fee for going abroad should be 3000 TL.

The Revenue Administration’s “2024 law studies presentation” text dated May 24, 2024 included remarkable suggestions and predictions about the new tax package. In the presentation on the new tax package, which is expected to be sent to the Turkish Grand National Assembly soon, it was suggested that the international departure fee, which is currently 150 TL, be increased to 3 thousand TL.

In the presentation, under the sub-heading of “Proposed regulation”, it was stated that “It is recommended that the amount of fee collected from citizens of the Republic of Turkey going abroad should be determined as 3,000 TL per exit, that the fee should be increased at the rate of revaluation every year, and that the authority given to the President should be regulated accordingly.”

“6-MONTH INCOME IMPACT IS 12.5 BILLION TL”

In the “Impact analysis” section of the proposal, it is reminded that 8 million 743 thousand 760 people went abroad by paying fees in 2023. “Assuming that the same number of people will go abroad by paying fees in 2024, it is calculated that the 6-month income impact will be 12.5 billion TL.” It was said.

THE FIGURE FOR OVERSEAS EXIT FEES HAS NOT BEEN CLEAR YET

While it was rumored that the exit fee would be increased from 150 TL to 1500 TL, sources from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance stated that the preparations for an increase in the exit fee were correct, but the figure was not clear yet.

IT WAS INCREASED FROM 50 LIRA TO 150 LIRA

The exit fee, which was 50 TL between July 2019 and February 2022, was increased to 150 TL in March 2022.

1 billion 311 million liras were collected from international departure fees in 2023. In the January-April period of 2024, an income of 427 million lira was achieved. 15 TL of international departure fees is transferred to TOKİ.
