The response of ‘Iván Mordisco’ after accusations by Gustavo Petro

“One can choose between the two paths, but never confuse them. You can choose the path of Pablo Escobar, which is not the same path as the priest.” Camilo Torres Restrepo. One goes one way and the other goes the other,” Petro said.

Escobar was the biggest drug trafficker in the history of Colombia and founder of the Medellín Cartel. His criminal organization killed thousands of people and created a “narco” culture that the South American country has not yet freed itself from.

The priest Camilo Torres, for his part, joined the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (ELN) at the end of 1965. He was the founder of the popular organization Frente Unidos, and his death in his first combat, on February 15, 1966, in Patio Cemento (Santander), made him a myth and legend of that guerrilla.

“Those who are there in the EMC have to know how to decide noweither they go down the path of Pablo Escobar and the State will confront them, or they go down the path of serving the people and the project of life and the State will receive them,” said the head of state in Córdoba.

The Government and the EMC have been in peace negotiations since last year and on October 17 they began a bilateral and temporary ceasefire that was extended in January for six months, until July 15but now it is suspended in three departments in the Pacific area after the attack on the indigenous people.
