Gudrat Hasanguliyev: “Pezeshkian has the power to change Iran for the better”

– Mr. Gudrat, we would like to ask you to comment on what is happening in Iran…

– When Pezeshkian was elected president, I always emphasized in the interviews I gave to the press that this might be the last chance for peaceful development of Iran. Iran’s religious leader should protect Pezeshkia and give him the opportunity to implement serious reforms. We want neighboring Iran to develop in a peaceful and evolutionary way.
I am very sorry for what happened. I said that the power of the president in Iran is equal to the power of the Prime Minister in our country. Machiavelli, known by many as a cynical philosopher and theorist, a great connoisseur of human nature and the theory of state management, wrote that the head of state can succeed only with strong people, fear of the head of state deters people from treason, but when fear turns into hatred, people feel a sense of revenge and then the government collapses. What he said is happening in Iran today. Monopoly, corruption, lawlessness, promotion of initiative, strategic thinking, and incompetent people to positions based on the principle of personal loyalty have created great social injustice in the society. Due to lack of timely measures, people faced water and food problems. Arrogant foreign policy that is not based on economic and military power, maintaining proxy forces that require large financial resources abroad has led to the imposition of sanctions on the country and prevented the attraction of foreign investment in the economy.
In order to get out of the situation, the religious leader should immediately give an order to start reforms and hand over the government to the president elected by the people in a legal way.

– Trump has declared that the United States will defend peaceful protesters if the people in Iran are tortured. What form could this take?

– I think this is more to encourage the protesters. But government offices where political decisions are made can also be bombed.

– How should we behave if Azerbaijanis are arrested?

– The President said in his address to the people on the arrival of the New Year that the state of Azerbaijan has not remained indifferent to the fate of any Azerbaijani, regardless of where they live in the world, and will not remain so in the future.
If the central government collapses in Iran and genocide or ethnic cleansing is carried out against the Turks, then we must immediately raise the issue in the UN Security Council and act together with Turkey and other Turkish republics. We can give weapons to Azerbaijanis to defend themselves, or deploy armed forces to prevent massacres. I hope the events will not reach that level and big reforms will be started in Iran. Pezeshkian has the power to change Iran for the better. It’s just that the mullahs need to step aside from politics and defend it.
