The election of the new board of directors of the Senate continues to generate controversy in the political world, with accusations of betrayal and loss of trust. This is because, according to the administrative pact, the PPD was the president, but finally the table was made up of the President José García Ruminot (RN) and Vice President Matías Walker (Democrats).
Specifically, Senator Ruminot spoke this Monday with Al Pan Pan con Mirna Schindler ruling out in the instance the accusations of betrayal by the ruling party, but recognizing that “he would like” greater rapprochement with Democrats, to the point of slipping the idea of presidential primaries with Chile Vamos, what he sees with “good eyes”.
“What happened last Tuesday is a demonstration that there are political changes, that new political majorities are being produced, and probably even new political alliances. And I think that’s how we should interpret it. “I don’t think there was betrayal, I don’t think there was a backlash, simply that there were disagreements,” she said.
About Democratsthe new ally of Chile Vamos together with Amarillos, Ruminot hopes that these agreements that have been reached in recent days will continue over time, forming a new center-right alliance.
“I hope so, maintaining each one’s points of view, maintaining their independence, but I think that The country needs an alliance or needs a new pactin such a way as to offer a government that takes care of the essential aspects that citizens demand today,” he explained.
Anyone makes a mistake
In the interview, Ruminot also said that agreements can be reached with Ximena Rincón (Democrats), despite the fact that when she was part of the Christian Democrats she voted in favor of the constitutional accusations against former ministers Andrés Chadwick and Harald Bayer, both during the government. by Sebastián Piñera.
In this regard, Ruminot downplayed Rincón’s vote at that time, because according to him “we all make mistakes in politics, we all make mistakes“.
“She acted in accordance with her conviction, with what she considered appropriate, and we all acted in the same way, but if we review our different actions backwards, one has to draw lessons, and naturally one can To say that this was not the best decision. And of course, always be willing to correct. What I ultimately want to say is that the votes that have been taken backwards, the decisions that have been taken backwards, They cannot be an obstacle“They should not be an obstacle to looking at the future, or to having a common view of the future,” he added.
Along these lines, Ruminot explained that they joined with Democrats and Yellows during the campaign in favor of the “Rejection” of the first constitutional process. “I think that brought us together a lot.remember that what that option did, among other things, was to end the Senate,” he said.
“Have we had a difference in the past? Yes. Have we had coincidences, particularly in recent years? Of course yes, very important coincidences, very significant, very vital for the development of our country. Can we have a common look towards the future? Of course we can have it.”
Matthei Elementary vs Rincón
Ruminot sees the alliance between Chile Vamos, Democrats and Amarillos as so feasible that he does not even rule out a presidential primary between the best evaluated face of the opposition, such as the mayor of Providencia Evelyn Matthei, and Ximena Rincón of the Democrats. “I see it with good eyes“, he assured.
“It is likely that other candidates will emerge for the primary, but it seems to me that the more organized we are and the more programmatic unity there is to offer the country true alternatives to solve our problems,
problems (…) we will be a developed country. Hopefully we will recover that hope, which is also what the vast majority of Chileans want, that we be a developed country,” he concluded.
