“Regarding responsibility, the People’s Committee of Thai Binh province also accepted responsibility for shortcomings in the leadership and direction of the organization of the exam, causing public concern. The Provincial People’s Committee was not closely monitoring, of course the main responsibility belongs to the Department of Education and Training. The provincial leaders would like to apologize to parents and students,” Mr. Nghiem said.
The Thai Binh Department of Education and Training also informed that it will organize for students to register for the second round of admission through the primary admission system, conduct the admission and announce the additional admission on August 23. At the same time, the Department will organize for students to continue to submit applications for re-examination and re-examination for the second time. The application period starts from tomorrow, August 21, lasting 5 days until August 25.
In addition, candidates who are not admitted to public high schools and register for admission to private high schools and continuing education centers according to their wishes can register for admission on the primary admission system from August 24 to 5:00 p.m. on August 27.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Thai Binh took place from June 6 to June 8. After receiving the scores, the Department of Education and Training received 855 appeals, including 388 appeals for general Literature, 293 appeals for general Math, 127 appeals for general English, and 47 appeals for specialized subject exams.
At the end of the re-scoring process, there were 12 exams with changed scores, including 10 general Math exams, 1 general English exam and 1 History exam.
However, the re-examination results made many people dissatisfied because of the large difference in scores. The re-examination results showed that many candidates (mainly candidates for Thai Binh High School for the Gifted and Nguyen Duc Canh High School – the top schools in the province) had their scores in literature and math initially announced as only 2 – 4 points, but after the re-examination, they increased to 8 – 9.5 points.
There was a case where a candidate’s math exam score for grade 10 was announced to be only 3.75 points, but the re-examination result increased to 9.5 points (a difference of 5.75 points).
