The reactions left by Petro’s criticism against private stations

The relationship between President Gustavo Petro and the media has gone through different and difficult moments throughout these 18 months of government. A few hours ago, for example, the president criticized the privatization of media in Colombia and accused two large companies in this sector of “dumbing down Colombians.”

“The moment of privatization meant that many people were left without studying, that Colombian society was dirty through RCN and Caracol, and that the only knowledge that is transmitted to the majority of citizens is that which arrives through the airwaves of these stations,” said President Petro, during his speech at the laying of the first stone of the new Fine Arts building in the National University.

The head of state’s comment did not take long to generate reactions and, in the political sphere, there was a lot of criticism he received because of his words. One of his detractors, former presidential candidate Enrique Gómez, He strongly questioned the president’s words.
