Heavy rains continued in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, but gradually moved to the Quang Ninh area from the night of August 22. In the next month, the North will experience many days of thunderstorms.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that from the evening of August 22 to the morning of August 23, the Northwest, Viet Bac and Quang Ninh will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common amounts of 20-50mm. Some places will have very heavy rain of over 120mm.
From the afternoon of August 23, heavy rain in the Northwest and Viet Bac regions is likely to gradually decrease.
In Hanoi and other places in the North, thunderstorms are forecast to continue during the night of August 22 and last until the end of August 23, but the amount will not be too large, ranging from 10-30mm, with some places over 60mm. Rain will be concentrated in the late afternoon and at night.
People should be on guard against thunderstorms that may include tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. Heavy rains may cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.
The meteorological agency said that from now until September 20, the North, Central Highlands and South will have many days of widespread moderate to heavy rain. Meanwhile, heat waves will continue to occur in the Central region, concentrated from late August to early September, after which the intensity will gradually decrease.

– Central Highlands: Showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the late afternoon and evening, scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places. Lowest temperature 21-24 degrees Celsius; highest 29-32 degrees Celsius.
