A total of five thousand and 85 health professionals, including doctors, nurses, diagnostic technicians, therapists and hospital support staff, will be admitted through a public competition scheduled for the first half of March, reported yesterday in Luanda , the holder of the portfolio, at the end of a meeting that analyzed the issue.
“This competition will have its own specificity, compared to those already held so far, as, in addition to admitting staff, it will also simultaneously start a training program”, he highlighted.
The minister said that the specialties that were needed in a package for an efficient primary care network had been identified. “We identified the specialties of gynecology and obstetrics, family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, general surgery, public health, anesthesia, intensive care and orthopedics. These are areas in which we will invest more”, she informed.
Sílvia Lutucuta asked the population not to be deceived by those who, during the event, say that they can be accommodated, at a cost of some amount, because there will be enough vacancies, especially for the medical profession. “They don’t need to bribe anyone, nor do they need to resort to agencies.
The competition will be carried out only by the Ministry of Health, at various levels. People just have to submit applications and compete,” she advised.
The official announced that the competitions will take place at municipal level. Sílvia Lutucuta said that the objective is to ensure that each municipality, depending on the number of staff it receives, has at least one orthopedist, one intensive care technician and one anesthetist.
“There are municipal hospitals that have an operating room or even a delivery room, but sometimes they are unable to perform certain procedures because there is no anesthesiologist or intensive care technician,” he explained.
Often, the minister continued, the reference units, especially at this time when the country is facing a malaria outbreak of some severity, record many deaths because, at the periphery level, there is no response capacity to solve some problems at the level of the County.
