The 12-year-old girl found dead in front of a house in Bairro Bela Vitória, in the north-eastern region of Belo Horizonte, this Tuesday (16/1), was not a drug addict. The information was reported by the victim’s psychologist, who assisted her at the Mental Health Reference Center (Cersam).
The possibility that Ana Luiza Silva Gomes used drugs was indicated by the suspect who killed her. The 25-year-old man said he found the teenager on a football field while he was using loló, a drug derived from a mixture of ether, chloroform, ethyl chloride and scented essence.
During the young woman’s funeral, psychologist Rafaela Rossi said that Ana Luiza began receiving treatment at Cersam in 2023. She says that the girl was docile, friendly, affectionate and funny. “Unfortunately, our sexist social construction is murderous and perverse. In the logic of man, the victim contributes to a certain extent to his own death. And I want to say in all words that Ana Luiza has never used substances. She was a child without any addiction,” she said.
The girl’s body was buried this Wednesday (17/1). An uncle, who did not want to be identified, said he was outraged by the crime. “Now instead of staying at home playing with her little sister, she is there, lying in the coffin. And I say more, society has no protections” […] I want to see if justice will be done. Furthermore, he has already been arrested for rape of a vulnerable person, drug trafficking and theft,” he said.
Sexual violence
The cause of Ana Luiza’s death has not yet been confirmed. According to the head of the State Department of Homicide Investigation and Personal Protection (DHPP), Alessandra Wilke, the victim’s body had no external injuries. Despite this, the company is investigating whether the young woman suffered sexual violence. This is because the suspect, arrested in flagrante delicto, has convictions for rape of a vulnerable person, theft and drug trafficking.
To the press, the victim’s family declared that Ana Luiza had been raped. However, PCMG stressed that, to date, there is no evidence to confirm the information. “What the police need to do, given their knowledge of her history, is pay attention to this [possibilidade de estupro] and try to prove whether it happened or not. Now, there’s no way to nail it. Only after the countless tests that have been collected and which depend on forensic processing. Because of history, we cannot leave it aside, we have to analyze it. Externally there were no injuries on her body,” explained Alessandra.
Prison
The suspect was arrested red-handed. So far there is no information on when the custody hearing will take place. The court is expected to decide this Thursday (18/1) whether he will remain in preventive custody. The man told the Military Police that he was on a football field in Bairro Nazaré when he found the girl inhaling the drug known as loló. She reportedly asked for water and he brought it to her house.
According to her statement, once she arrived at the facility, the girl continued to use the narcotic substance and, a few moments later, began to feel ill. She then took her outside to call the emergency mobile service (Samu).
«Based on the information we have so far, the individual’s arrest for the murder has been confirmed. But we have a series of information that still needs to be verified to finalize the understanding of this murder and also other crimes,” informed delegate Leandro Alves Santos, head of the Specialized Homicide Police Station of the Eastern Region.
Abandoned young woman
Surveillance cameras recorded the moment the victim entered the property, at 10.13am, accompanied by a man. At 1.30pm the girl was left on the pavement by the suspect. When the Prime Minister arrived at the scene, the Emergency Mobile Service (SAMU) was already providing assistance. The doctor who was part of the rescue team certified the death.
At the scene the father recognized the body. A neighbor, who made the images available to the police, said he had seen the recording. According to him, the man caught carrying the girl is her nephew.
Carrying out searches inside the property, the military found no signs of consumption of loló. The Civil Police’s investigations, however, found remains of cocaine inside the house and a used condom, but there were no signs of violence on the victim’s body.
