The profile of the three police officers murdered in Cañete

The three Carabineros non-commissioned officers murdered this morning in the Quilaco-Antiquina sector, south of Cañete, were all from the Bío Bío Region. Two of them, in fact, were born in Lebu (capital of the Province of Arauco) and another of them was originally from Concepción.

The oldest of them, according to the Eighth Region of Carabineros, was First Sergeant Carlos José Cisterna Navarro, who was born in Lebu on November 21, 1980, he was 43 years old and leaves behind a 6-year-old son. He joined the Carabineros in 1999 and his first assignments were the Second Police Station of Collipulli and the Ercilla extension. In 2005 he became part of the former Malleco Special Forces substation and, in 2011, he was sent to the Curaco checkpoint, in Collipulli.

In June 2013 he was assigned to the Biobío Region, to the Second Police Station of Lebu and, in January 2016, he became part of the Fourth Police Station for Public Order Control (COP) of Los Álamos, in which he worked. when he was murdered.

In 2016 he received congratulations on his resume for having repelled an attack carried out by 15 armed individuals, who entered a farm in the commune of Contulmo and attacked forestry personnel.

His last promotion, to the rank of First Sergeant, was recorded in May 2022.

First Corporal Sergio Antonio Arévalo Lobo, 34, was also born in Lebu. He was married and the father of a one-year-old daughter. He entered the uniformed institution in 2010 and his first assignment was the Fifth Police Station of Quirihue. In January 2016 he was assigned to the COP police station in Los Alamos. The first congratulations that appear on his resume were precisely due to an action carried out in that unit, when he detained a subject who had numerous ammunition of different calibers in his possession.

In 2018 he received a second congratulation “for his high degree of professionalism in a procedure for roadblocks and attacks with firearms,” said Carabineros.

In March 2019, meanwhile, he received a third congratulation, for participating in the recovery of livestock stolen in a crime of rustling, and in September 2002 he was the subject of a fourth distinction, “for his high degree of professionalism, efficiency, commitment and delivery”.

First Corporal Misael Magdiel Vidal Cid, 30, was the only one of those murdered who was born in Concepción. At the time of his death he was 30 years old and leaves behind a three-year-old son. He had been part of the Carabineros since 2014. He was assigned to the 54th Police Station of Huechuraba and, like his colleagues, was assigned in 2016 to the COP unit of Los Alamos. In 2022 he also received congratulations “for his high degree of professionalism, efficiency, commitment and dedication.”
