The priority is citizens, says the Agricultural Chamber on water

Marcelo Valdés Quintanilla, president of the Agricultural and Livestock Chamber of Torreón, considered that the modernization of irrigation in the region is a fundamental aspect in terms of the savings required of the vital liquid, and more so based on the federal Healthy Water program for La Laguna, but warned that producers cannot do it alone.

“The most important thing is the modernization of irrigation to be able to make efficient and responsible use of the vital liquid, but it cannot be done alone, support is needed, both from long-term financing and training, since they are very large investments, although we know that with them the sector will benefit in the short, medium and long term, for the better use of water and thus be able to achieve greater production in the entire agricultural irrigation area of the entity, without expanding what already exists”he explained.

The president of the Agricultural and Livestock Chamber assured that the sector is clear that the priority must be citizens, which is why he called for coordinating efforts between governments to achieve the savings required within the program promoted by the president.

“As farmers and ranchers we are clear that the priority of this liquid is the citizens, for this reason we must work hand in hand with the federal, state and municipal government to be able to achieve good synergy and thus achieve the primary objective, which is “to make better use of it”he expressed.
